Why do people seek therapy? Usually because they want to make changes in their life, or because a major life change has been thrust upon them.
Why Seek Therapy?
It is your therapist’s job to help you create the change you want in your life, and remove the obstacles that are getting in the way of you reaching your goals. Your therapist will support you as you navigate major life transitions, whether it’s a new job, going away to college, getting married or divorced, becoming a parent, or other unexpected circumstances that add stress to your life.
About me:
I am a licensed clinical social worker with many years experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including: mental health clinics, elementary schools, foster care, and hospitals. I have helped individuals with a broad range of presenting problems including: depression, anxiety, insomnia, social phobia, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Prior to becoming a social worker I worked in the creative arts. I am particularly interested in supporting client’s artistic, creative, and professional development, and in addressing work/life balance. I specialize in the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood, with a focus on identity development.
My approach to therapy:
Therapy is a collaborative endeavor. You and your therapist are partners in a journey of self exploration that leads to enhanced self awareness, and the acquisition of tools to create change in your life. Connection, trust, openness, empathy, and honesty are key to the therapeutic relationship. My approach is eclectic and I am trained in, and draw on several theoretical models including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed treatment. I tailor therapy to the individual needs and goals of the client.
